Pattern Literacy
Learn the fundamentals of commercial and production patterns from industry professionals. If you’ve ever looked at a pattern and wondered what it all means and how to use it to make a garment, then this course is for you! We’ll take the mystery out of pattern language and help you use commercial patterns like a pro. We’ll go through each step of reading and cutting a pattern, including:
· Notches
· Graded nests
· Markers
· Seam allowance
· Grainlines· Marking
· Cutting
· Basic pattern adjustments
· Reading a size chart
Students will also be introduced to industrial patterns and how they are used in a production environment, and how commercial patterns compare. Students see demonstrations for laying up fabric, cutting and marking for elements such as notches, darts, gathers, pocket placement, etc.
Materials: All equipment, tools and materials are provided during this training.
